Originally envisioned as an answer to Samsung's Galaxy Note lineup, the ultra-high-end LG V family expanded to a little more than that when the V35 ThinQ was released months before the Note 9 and V40 ThinQ. With the V50 ThinQ 5G announcement earlier this year, LG consolidated the series as a rival for both Note and Galaxy S devices, although the G8 ThinQ also... exists, mainly going up against the S10e.
